Food & Fellowship
The Food & Fellowship Ministry at First Presbyterian exists to offer church members and our guests a variety of opportunities to develop camaraderie over food and fun. Events this past year have included a Fall Kickoff, Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat, and a Chili Cook-off.
Our Women’s ministry seeks to foster Christian friendships and opportunities for bible study and hand’s on ministry. Our Presbyterian Women also provide bereavement meals as well as a Flower Ministry to the sick. The annual “Tasting Tea” event is one of the highlights of the year.
This very successful and rewarding event raises funds to assist the economically disadvantaged of our community with the high cost of staying warm during our cold winter months.
Our Men’s ministry seeks to provide opportunities for fellowship and ministry through our monthly breakfasts (first Tuesday of the month at 7am) and suppers (3rd at 6pm). Our men’s ministry provides an environment of faith building and support through fellowship, prayer, and bible study.
Stephen Ministry is a confidential one-to-one caring ministry through which one Christian reaches out to another in times of loneliness, illness, pain, grief or other concern. If you are in need of a supportive friend or know someone who is, please contact Amanda Hines at the church office or email at email@example.com .
There are also confidential referral cards at the church, which you may place in the offering plate during worship or submit to one of the pastors, Stephen Leaders or church office. You may also find the attached document entitled The After People helpful in learning about Stephen Ministry.
Prayers & Squares
Prayers & Squares is a ministry and that combines the gift of prayer with the gift of a hand-tied quilt. Unlike many other groups that make quilts for charitable causes, the purpose of Prayers & Squares is not to make and distribute quilts, but to promote prayer through the use of quilts. Our motto is: “It’s not about the quilt; it’s all about the prayers.” For more information about this ministry contact the church office at 252-758-1901.
Prayer shawls provide comfort, consolation and warmth to those who are grieving. These shawls go to those who recently lost a loved one or are suffering a significant illness.
Participants in this ministry pray for the recipient while they knit or crochet the shawls. These shawls are blessed during a worship service prior to their being given to their recipients. For more information or to volunteer for this ministry, contact the church
office at firstname.lastname@example.org or (252) 758-1901.
