What to Expect

We offer two, engaging traditional worship services every Sunday at 8:30am and 11am. Both services include scripture and preaching as well as unison prayers and hymns printed in the bulletin and on screen for our livestream congregation. Our 8:30 service is a smaller service which features music from one of our Music Scholars, with more piano and sometimes instrumentalists, and includes Communion every week.  We livestream our 11:00am service, which features the choral music of our chancel choir under the direction of Karrie Rushing. Music is a vital part of our worship life, and Brad Collier fills our worship services with hymns, spirituals, classical music and more on both the piano and our Lewtak Organ. PLEASE NOTE THAT DURING THE SUMMER WE HOLD ONE, UNIFIED WORSHIP SERVICE AT 10AM.  (Summer 2023 is May 31-August 13).

What to Wear

Please what makes you feel comfortable in worship. Most of our congregation tends towards “business casual” or what we in the South sometimes call “church clothes” but we welcome all. You’ll see plenty of kids in sneakers, shorts, flip flops, soccer jerseys, and other clothes they love.

When You Arrive

We are at the corner of 14th Street and Elm Street. Park in the lot off Elm or 14th street and head for glass doors to the Welcome Center. When you enter, the sanctuary will be towards the corner of 14th and Elm with single stall restrooms on the first floor and the second floor balcony. Men’s and Women’s restrooms, nursery, and coffee hour will be towards the interior of the property on the opposite side of the Welcome Center. Older Elementary and youth meet for education between services in our lower level, under the sanctuary. Most adult classes are on the second floor which you can reach using the elevator off the Welcome Center. Make sure to grab a special gift with information about our church after worship.

First Presbyterian Church is located at the corner of Elm Street and 14th Street with parking lots on either side.

Our address is 1400 S. Elm Street Greenville, NC 27858

However, we highly recommend first time visitors use the 14th street parking for ease of access.

Also, when we have outdoor services, they are on the 14th street side.

Faith Formation Groups

Faith Formation can mean a lot of different things. It can mean Sunday School, Mid-Week Bible studies, Prayer groups, learning spiritual practices and more!  Some of our groups have been meeting together for a long time.  Other groups are short term commitments of 4-8 weeks.  Whether you are looking for an established group or a short-term commitment, all of our groups are open and welcoming of new people.

Contact any of our pastors to talk about what you are looking for and we will be glad to help match you and introduce you to someone in the group to get started.  For a complete list of our established groups, please visit the Education and Spiritual Formation page here. NEEDS LINK

Our mission is to

BE AN OPEN DOOR

to all who seek Christ in their lives,

INCREASE PASSION

for spiritual growth,

BUILD

a nurturing fellowship,

and FAITHFULLY SERVE

the needs of others.

Guided by the Great Commandment, we are a people that loves God

and gratefully serves Christ as the head of our church.

We share our journey of faith—at times boldly and at times humbly,

but always in awareness that it is in the daily giving of God’s love to others

that we daily receive God’s love and grace.
