A Merry Christmas for our Older Adults

Recap of a great December in Older Adult Ministry

by Rob Jackson on December 21, 2022

It was a great month for Older Adult Ministry at First Presbyterian Church!  Our OAM Leadership team planned to end 2022 with a bang.  First up was the 1st Annual Older Adult Ministry Christmas Banquet on December 7th.  Instead of brown bag lunch for our Senior Lunch bunch in November, we gathered everyone we could for a catered meal from GK Café.  Our leadership team reached out to people who might need a little extra help with transportation and it really boosted our attendance. 54 people gathered to eat, talk and sing Christmas carols together.  Corey Whaley, one of our Choral Scholars, led the festivities with skill and enthusiasm.  Everyone left happy with full tummies and full hearts!

On December 12th, the Age Venturers went to Raleigh to see the Immersive Van Gogh exhibit. The exhibit was informative and sparked the imaginations of everyone there as we got to "live in" some of the most famous works of Van Gogh.  We finished off the trip with a lovely dinner at PF Chang's.

Stay tuned for more updates from the Older Adult Ministry Team. Next up, Nominations for Outstanding Older Adult to be sent to New Hope Presbytery!  We will start receiving nominations in January.
