“Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink? And when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you, or naked and gave you clothing? And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and visited you?” And the king will answer them, “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.”  -Matthew 25:37-40

FPC Mission Ministry

FPC has a rich history in support of missions.  Being a “mission-minded” church has led us to numerous mission activities, including the ones listed below.  All ages, from our youngest children to our senior adults, have opportunities to participate in missions.  In addition to these activities, FPC participates in special offerings sponsored by the PC (USA).

Mayfest

Our largest mission’s fundraiser provides funds for local non-profit organizations through grants since 1999. The Mayfest yard sale is held on the first Saturday of May.  It features a giant yard sale, bake sale, garden shop and BBQ Chicken Dinners. The Mayfest Live and Silent Auction and the Mayfest Golf Tournament take place off site during the month of May.  For more information, visit our Mayfest page here.

Crossroads Community Shelter Meals

We provide and serve dinner once a month at the local shelter.

Bucket Brigade

On the second Sunday of each month, the children collect loose change from the congregation.  These donations support the New Hope Presbytery Hunger offering and meals at the Community Crossroads Shelter.

Winterville Manor Outreach

Winterville Manor is an assisted living facility for low-income older adults.  For many years, FPC has sponsored a Christmas Party at Winterville Manor and provided gifts for residents.  This year, the Mission Ministry is coordinating an effort to reach out to Winterville Manor with regular quarterly projects.

Foster Care Initiative

This is new initiative for First Presbyterian Church.  We have partnered with the Children’s Home Society of North Carolina to provide backpacks/duffel bags, stuffed animals, and personal care kits for children in foster care.  We also host adoption matching events.  In addition to the work with the Children’s Home Society, we have supported Lambs’ Place of Greenville in their efforts to provide housing and mentors for young people aging out of the foster care system.

Other Missions

On a regular basis, FPG makes donations of time and/or fund to the local Food Bank, Meals on Wheels,   and organizations in the community.  We also assist with disaster relief, including preparation of disaster buckets and personal care kits.

Thanks for your patience. Our brand new website is still under construction and not all areas of the site are finished.
